JHAPA, July 9: Police have opened fire to arrest two persons in possession of contraband drugs, brown sugar, in Bhadrapur municipality-7.



According to the Spokesperson at the District Police Office (DPO) Jhapa, Khagendra Bahadur Khadka, a team deployed from DPO and Narcotic Control Bureau opened six rounds of firing to nab the suspected drug peddlers on Tuesday evening.

Khadka further said the police resorted to gunfire in retaliation of attacks on the security personnel in the course of security screening. One among the injured in the shooting has been kept in custody after treatment at a local facility.


Manisur Alam, 35, of Kishangunj district under Bihar State of India and Nasaruddin Miyan from Jhapa Kachankawal Municipality-5 were arrested, he informed.


The DPO has stated that 205 grams and 80 milligrams of brown sugar were seized from the accused.
