Chinese national arrested with laptop parts smuggled to evade tax

Police have arrested a Chinese national for smuggling electronic equipment, including laptop parts, without paying taxes. The suspect, Yu Wang, 38, resides in Purano Sinamangal,  Kathmandu Metropolitan City-32.

KATHMANDU, July 17: Police have arrested a Chinese national for smuggling electronic equipment, including laptop parts, without paying taxes. The suspect, Yu Wang, 38, resides in Purano Sinamangal,  Kathmandu Metropolitan City-32.



Acting on a tip-off that Wang and his associates were selling various laptop parts, batteries, CCTV cameras, and other electronics without bills or customs clearance, a team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office in Teku detained him on Tuesday afternoon from Panchamukhi Chowk in Sinamangal.

Police seized items worth Rs 21.97 million from Wang’s possession, including laptop parts, batteries, CCTV cameras, and HD cameras, all lacking proper documentation.


Authorities have sent Wang to the Department of Revenue Investigation in Hariharbhawan, Lalitpur, for further investigation and legal action.
