KATHMANDU, Aug 4: Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli has appointed Senior Vice Chair Ishwar Pokhrel as the party’s Acting Chair.
According to Rajendra Gautam, head of the UML Publicity Department, Oli handed over the responsibility to Pokhrel before departing for Turkmenistan on Friday night to attend the third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs).

Gautam said the appointment was made in accordance with Article 21(2) of the UML statute of 2049 BS (amended in 2078 BS), which states that the senior vice chairperson shall assume the role of chairperson in the absence of the party chair.
Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to return to Nepal on Friday night, August 8.
