KATHMANDU, Aug 27: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to visit China on August 30 to participate in the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit.
The SCO summit will take place in Tianjin from August 30 to 31, with heads of member states in attendance. “The visit has been finalized, and preparations are in the final stages,” said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lok Bahadur Paudel Chhetri.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization was established on June 15, 2001, in Shanghai by Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. The organization currently has nine member states: India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Afghanistan, Belarus, and Mongolia are observer states, while Nepal and 13 other countries are dialogue partners.
India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also attend the summit. According to ministry sources, during the sidelines of the summit, PM Oli will hold bilateral meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Prime Minister Modi, and other world leaders.
PM Oli had previously made an official visit to China in December last year. He is expected to return from China on September 4.
