KATHMANDU, July 23: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has expressed dissatisfaction over what he described as unwarranted criticism surrounding minor delays in the construction of the Kirtipur Cricket Stadium, stating that such reactions overlook the substantial progress already made.
Responding to lawmakers' queries in Parliament on Wednesday, Prime Minister Oli defended the project, emphasizing that while procedural complications had caused some delays, the construction is now in its final stages.
“The stadium is being built; it’s close to completion. But instead of being happy, people complain about a delay of two days,” he said, “It might take two extra days, is that such a big issue?”

Oli acknowledged that he had initially set a target of 300 days to expedite the project, but procedural complexities, including procurement hurdles and land ownership issues, meant that actual work could not begin until late December.
“It took five months just to get the work started, and then the monsoon added more challenges. Some delay was inevitable,” he explained.
PM Oli also voiced displeasure at what he called a tendency to criticize even positive efforts. “Sometimes, it wouldn’t hurt to appreciate the work that’s being done. A little positivity in our mindset could help,” he remarked.
Reaffirming his government’s commitment to development, Oli said major infrastructure projects were moving forward despite bureaucratic hurdles and negativity from some quarters.
