JANAKPURDHAM, June 1: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has remotely laid the foundation stone for 64 road construction projects in the Madhesh region in a single day.
PM Oli digitally laid the foundation stone for 64 road projects from the Nidhi Bhawan in Janakpurdham this afternoon. According to the Madhesh Province government, the projects fall under the ‘One Constituency, One Paved Road’ initiative, covering 64 electoral constituencies across eight districts of Madhesh Province. Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development Saroj Kumar Yadav stated that each road will be five kilometers long.

A multi-year procurement master plan has been approved to construct a total of 320 kilometers of roads across 64 electoral constituencies, to be completed within three fiscal years. Minister Yadav stated that the foundation stone was laid after the completion of the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs).
The total estimated cost for constructing these roads is Rs 12.7 billion. Under the Provincial and Local Roads Improvement Program (PLRIP) supported by the World Bank, the ministry plans to construct 198 kilometers of blacktopped roads, carry out major maintenance on 326 kilometers of roads, and perform routine maintenance on 1,000 kilometers of roads.
Minister Yadav stated that this project is being launched under the second phase of the ‘One Constituency, One Paved Road’ program, which falls under the Provincial Road Network Master Plan.
