PM Oli, Education Minister discuss teachers' demands ahead of cabinet meeting

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Minister for Education, Science, and Technology, Bidya Bhattarai, held discussions on the demands of protesting teachers and staff on Monday afternoon. Minister Bhattarai visited the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar for the discussion.

KATHMANDU, April 21: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Minister for Education, Science, and Technology, Bidya Bhattarai, held discussions on the demands of protesting teachers and staff on Monday afternoon. Minister Bhattarai visited the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar for the discussion.



The meeting has drawn attention amid the ongoing teachers' protests.

The Cabinet is set to convene later today. Prior to the meeting, Prime Minister Oli and Minister Bhattarai engaged in discussions.


A source at Baluwatar stated, "It was natural for the minister to consult with the Prime Minister."


During the Cabinet meeting, a seven-point proposal prepared by the Ministry of Education will be discussed. Key proposals include raising the salary of ECD teachers to 17,300, creating a new package for the Social Security Fund, providing remote area allowances, adjusting grades, establishing a dignity order, and offering discounts for education-related treatments at the Civil Service Hospital.
