PM Karki, Indian counterpart Modi to hold telephone talks on Thursday

In preparation, Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava met with Prime Minister Karki on Tuesday, formally congratulating her and discussing ways to create a conducive environment for the upcoming dialogue.

LAHAN, Sept 16: Newly-appointed Prime Minister Sushila Karki and her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi are scheduled to hold a telephone conversation this Thursday at 11:30 AM, according to high-level government sources.



In preparation, Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava met with Prime Minister Karki on Tuesday, formally congratulating her and discussing ways to create a conducive environment for the upcoming dialogue.

After Karki’s appointment, PM Modi had already extended his greetings via social media and during a public address. While addressing a gathering in Manipur, he described Karki’s selection as an important example of women’s empowerment.


This will be Karki’s first high-level diplomatic engagement since her appointment following the Gen Z protests. The talks are expected to play a significant role in shaping future cooperation and strengthening ties between the two countries.
