KATHMANDU, March 14: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has directed the officials organizing the upcoming Sagarmatha Sambaad in Kathmandu from May 15 to 17 to streamline the event's planning and execution.
After inspecting the Secretariat of the Sagarmatha Sambaad, which is being operated at the PM’s Office in Singha Durbar, PM Oli on Friday instructed the officials to effectively deliver the main message of the event to the international community regarding the problems faced by mountainous and coastal countries due to climate change.

The government has formed a committee for the program under the leadership of PM Oli, with Foreign Minister Dr Arzu Rana Deuba as the chair and Minister for Forests and Environment Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri as the co-chair. Additionally, the government has also formed a secretariat under the coordination of the Secretary of the PM’s Office.
The government has invited heads of states and governments from neighboring countries such as India and China, along with other countries, as special guests. The Secretary of the Sagarmatha Sambaad Secretariat, Dr Maheshwar Dhakal, mentioned that a press conference will be held soon to publicly announce the progress of the preparations for the dialogue.
PM Oli had announced the Sagarmatha Sambaad to be held in Kathmandu in 2025, marking the International Year of Glaciers. This will be the first time that the government is organizing such a global dialogue every two years, focusing on climate change, the Himalayas, and the future of the human race.
