Pilgrim dies of altitude sickness

Altitude sickness claimed the life of a pilgrim traveling to Muktinath.

MUSTANG, April 27: Altitude sickness claimed the life of a pilgrim traveling to Muktinath.



Information Officer and Police Inspector Bishal Adhikari at the District Police Office said that 75-year-old Gopiram Gaha from Kaligandaki Rural Municipality-2, Syangja, died of altitude sickness. He passed away on Saturday at the Provincial Hospital in Jomsom.

Gaha, along with a group of 23 people from Syangja, was heading to Mustang to visit Muktinath and perform ancestral rites at Kagbeni Dham. While traveling through Myagdi towards Mustang, he fell ill after reaching Marpha. The group admitted him to the Provincial Hospital after he showed health complications.
