KATHMANDU, May 29: The government has announced plans to initiate petroleum exploration in Palpa, Sunsari and Dang districts.
Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel, while presenting the budget for the Fiscal Year 2025/26 on Thursday, said that qualified international researchers will be brought in to carry out the exploration.

“Petroleum exploration will begin in Palpa, Sunsari and Dang. Skilled researchers from the international community will be selected to conduct feasibility studies for rare earth metals,” he said.
Minister Paudel also announced that a national conference involving experts will be organized to assess the potential for exploration, production and commercialization of mineral resources in Nepal.
