Tanahun has been listed as the highest-risk district in Gandaki Province for monsoon-related hazards. The plan prioritizes responses based on past incidents and includes measures for rapid deployment of search and rescue teams. It also clearly assigns responsibilities to concerned authorities to ensure timely and coordinated disaster response.
Landslides and floods have been identified as the most frequent risks in most local units of the district. For instance, Byas Municipality is at high risk of landslides followed by floods, while Bhanu Municipality faces a greater flood risk. Similar risk assessments have been made for other municipalities and rural municipalities in the district.
The plan also highlights preparedness for other hazards such as wildfires, lightning, windstorms, epidemics, and drought. Emergency shelters and open spaces have been designated and kept ready for immediate use in case of disaster events.
