Over 25,000 families at risk of floods and landslides in Chitwan

A total of 25,733 households, affecting over 128,665 people, could be impacted across the district’s seven local units. Rapti Municipality faces the highest risk, with 10,109 households and over 50,000 residents identified as vulnerable.

CHITWAN, July 11: More than 25,000 households in Chitwan are at risk of floods, landslides and inundation due to heavy monsoon rains, according to the District Disaster Management Committee, Chitwan.



A total of 25,733 households, affecting over 128,665 people, could be impacted across the district’s seven local units. Rapti Municipality faces the highest risk, with 10,109 households and over 50,000 residents identified as vulnerable.

Preliminary data shows Bharatpur Metropolitan City has 6,635 at-risk households, followed by Madi Municipality (3,946), Ratnanagar (2,381), Kalika (1,005), Khairhani (320), and Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality (1,256).


Chief District Officer Prakash Paudel said all necessary preparations are in place for rescue and relief. “Residents living along riverbanks have been advised to remain alert, and essential supplies and response infrastructure have been kept ready,” he said.
