During this period, 5,471 complaints were received directly at the commission, 5,808 were submitted from districts, and 3,912 were related to rape or sexual violence, according to TRC member and spokesperson Achyut Prasad Bhandari.
Previously, only 314 complaints related to rape or sexual violence had been registered. Among the districts, Jajarkot received the highest number of complaints, totaling 883. Combining new and old submissions, the TRC now has a total of 78,909 registered complaints, Bhandari said.
TRC Chair Mahesh Thapa stated that complaints related to rape or sexual violence have significantly increased compared to earlier periods. He emphasized that the commission will proceed with all actions while ensuring the confidentiality of victims and aims to verify the truth of all cases within the first two years and advance other necessary processes thereafter.
Officials added that if the TRC has sufficient resources, all work could be completed within four years. The TRC accepts complaints only for incidents that occurred between February 14, 1996 and November 21, 2006.
