One person dies from electrocution in Mahottari

Locals and the victim’s family have blamed the Nepal Electricity Authority for negligence.

MAHOTTARI, July 7: A worker died of electrocution on Sunday evening while constructing a culvert on an agricultural road in Aurahi Municipality–7, Mahottari.



According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Shailendra Kumar Bhatt and the spokesperson for Mahottari District Police Office, the deceased has been identified as Chhatu Mukhiya, a 32-year-old resident of Ramgopalpur Municipality–5.

Eyewitness Roshan Kumar Yadav said the worker was electrocuted after a live wire snapped and fell on him while he was working on the culvert in Bhoyal Nimkiya, Aurahi Municipality-5.


Locals and the victim’s family have blamed the Nepal Electricity Authority for negligence.


Police said they are preparing to send the body for a postmortem after conducting an on-site investigation.
