One killed in tipper accident in Sarlahi, angry locals set the vehicle on fire

RAUTAHAT, June 26: One person died after being hit by a tipper in Sarlahi. The incident occurred near the Chakreshwar Mahadev Temple, Majorgung, in Lalbandi Municipality-5 along the Lalbandi–Jabdi road section on Wednesday night.

According to the District Police Office, Sarlahi, 17-year-old Sachin Sah of Agarwa, Kawilasi Municipality-8, died after being hit by a tipper (Na 2 Kha 501) that was en route to Lalbandi from Jabdi.


Locals said the tipper, which was speeding, struck Sah while he was riding a bicycle, killing him on the spot. Enraged by the incident, locals set the tipper on fire.


Sachin was a Grade 10 student at Janjyoti Secondary School in Lalbandi. His body has been kept at the Provincial Hospital in Malangawa for postmortem. The tipper driver is at large, and a search to nab him is ongoing, police said.


The damaged vehicle was brought to the Area Police Office, Lalbandi, late Wednesday night. Due to the arson, the area around Mejarganj remained tense for a few hours that night, but the situation came to normalcy by Thursday morning, according to police.
