UDAYAPUR, July 31:A truck accident on the Madan Bhandari Highway in Udayapur on Thursday morning claimed the life of the driver.
The accident occurred at Andheri in Udayapurgadhi Rural Municipality–7 when a truck en route from Kathmandu to Itahari lost control and overturned. The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Jiban Bishwokarma of Bagaha, Triyuga Municipality–4.
Driver and co-driver killed in truck accident in Aandhikhola
According to the Udayapur District Police Office, the truck (Province 1-02-001 Kha 9260) veered off the road and overturned at around 6 AM. Bishwokarma, who sustained serious injuries to various parts of his body, was rescued and rushed to District Hospital Gaighat for treatment.
However, police said he was pronounced dead by doctors at 8:30 AM during treatment. Spokesperson at Udaypur District Police Office DSP Kedarman Dong stated that an investigation into the incident is underway. The police have conducted an on-site inspection and initiated legal procedures.
The body of the deceased has been kept at the district hospital for post-mortem.
