One injured in police firing during Gen Z protest in Pokhara

Following the deaths of Gen Z protesters in Kathmandu, demonstrators in Pokhara have been chanting slogans against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, demanding their resignation.

POKHARA, Sept 8: A protester was injured in police firing during a Gen Z demonstration in Kaski. The injured youth was taken to a hospital for treatment, according to police sources.



Following the deaths of Gen Z protesters in Kathmandu, demonstrators in Pokhara have been chanting slogans against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, demanding their resignation. Clashes have erupted between protesters and police personnel in the city’s main market area.

Authorities have attempted to control the situation using tear gas cells, but the protests have continued to escalate. The District Administration Office, Kaski, imposed restrictions in the Shahid Chowk area, but the demonstration persisted.


The protests, initially sparked by demands to lift the social media ban and end corruption, have spread nationwide, with Gen Z youth taking to the streets in Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan, Jhapa, Morang and other districts. In Kathmandu, police firing during Monday’s protests left 13 people dead as of 4 PM.
