TANAHUN, July 14: A young man died and a woman was seriously injured after a scooter collided with a parked mini-truck on the Prithvi Highway in Tanahun on Monday.
According to the District Police Office, the accident occurred at around 11:55 am in Amreni, Byas Municipality-1, when a scooter with registration number Ba 22 Pa 3989 heading from Dumre to Damauli rear-ended a stationary mini-truck with registration number Ba 1 Ka 8714 parked on the roadside.
The scooter rider, Sagar Neupane, 25, of Byas-12, Chhirken, and the pillion passenger, Krishnamaya Pant, 60, of the same locality, were both seriously injured in the crash.

They were rushed to Ratnahari Hospital for treatment, where Neupane succumbed to his injuries at 12:35 pm, police said.
Pant received preliminary treatment at the same hospital and was later referred to Gandaki Hospital in Pokhara for further care.
Police have taken both vehicles into custody and are investigating the incident.
