Oli and Deuba favor mid-term elections, claims MP Singh

Speaking on Nagarik Frontline, a talk show hosted by Nagarik Daily’s Editor-in-Chief Gunaraj Luitel, Singh said, “I am a researcher, not a politician. But Sher Bahadur Deuba and KP Oli are inclined toward holding elections before schedule. I’m telling you something authentic—they want to conduct federal elections soon and remain in power.”

KATHMANDU, Aug 7: Independent lawmaker Amresh Kumar Singh has claimed that Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli along with Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba are both in favor of holding early parliamentary elections.

According to Singh, the two leaders are concerned that if they step down from power, they may face legal action and even imprisonment. “Sher Bahadur is worried about his wife and son. The state already has sufficient evidence that can be used against them at any time,” he said.

Singh also claimed that the NC and UML are considering appointing representatives instead of holding elections altogether. “They believe elections would only bring more frustration for them. They are even discussing nomination-based politics. NC currently holds 88 seats—they think maintaining that status through appointments would be enough to secure their positions,” he said.
