KATHMANDU, July 21: Renowned composer Nhyoo Bajracharya will perform in this month's edition of Paleti, a musical series organized at Nepalaya’s ‘R’ sala on the last Friday of every English month.
This month’s program will be held on Friday and Saturday ( i.e. July 25 and 26), and Bajracharya will be accompanied by vocalist Banika Pradhan.
The event will be hosted by poet and lyricist Biplav Pratik, according to composer Aabhash, who coordinates the Paleti series.
Lyrical poems at April’s Paleti
Bajracharya and Pradhan are currently rehearsing with the Paleti team for the upcoming performance. A household name in Nepali music, Bajracharya is known for composing some of the most beloved songs such as Phoolko Aankhama, Na Aau Sapana Bhari, Arbaun Manche Haruma, Laija Chari, and Sayathari Baja.
He also composed music for the iconic song yo Man Ta Taal ho sung by the legendary Arun Lama and has worked with singer Bachchu Kailash as well.
“This time, we are delighted to welcome Nhyoo Bajracharya, a seasoned and distinguished composer whose creations have given Nepali music a unique flavor,” said Aabhash.
Participating in Paleti for the first time, Bajracharya shared, “I see Paleti as a bridge that connects modern Nepali music with today’s audience. I will do my best to make this performance memorable.” After his remarks, he smiled and began strumming his guitar.
Poet and lyricist Biplav Pratik, who was observing the rehearsals, added, “A city's vibrancy can be measured by its contemporary music. For 20 years, Paleti has carried that legacy forward. I am confident that Bajracharya’s performance this time will be unforgettable.”
Banika Pradhan, who is also performing for the first time at Paleti, shared her excitement: “This stage has hosted many legendary artists and carries an unmatched legacy. I had always dreamt of singing here. I’ve been in the audience before, but now I’m thrilled to perform myself.” Smiling, she begins harmonizing with Bajracharya under his musical direction.
Started 20 years ago, Paleti is a musical event that brings together celebrated artists and audiences in an intimate setting.
