NUP decides to quit govt after Resham Chaudhary’s arrest

NUP Spokesperson Damodar Pandit told Republica, “The government has arrested our leaders. Are we still supposed to keep supporting them and remain in the government? That won't happen. We will quit the government soon. The party will make a decision about this today.”

KATHMANDU, April 30: The Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP) has decided to quit the government. The move comes in response to the arrest of the party’s patron, Resham Chaudhary.



NUP Spokesperson Damodar Pandit told Republica, “The government has arrested our leaders. Are we still supposed to keep supporting them and remain in the government? That won't happen. We will quit the government soon. The party will make a decision about this today.”

Chaudhary was arrested on Wednesday from the Nepal Academy in Kathmandu. He was detained by the police while attending a merger announcement event with the Janamat Party led by Dr CK Raut.


From the NUP, Arun Kumar Chaudhary currently serves as State Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation.
