Dr Pariyar said he would thoroughly examine why shortages persist even when reports of fertilizer imports are being made public. “Agricultural production cannot increase without fertilizer. I need to study this matter in depth—why fertilizer is not available on time, why there are repeated reports in the media that certain tons of fertilizer are arriving but then it does not reach the farmers. I will now look into what weaknesses exist in this process and work to eliminate them,” he said.

Dr Pariyar also emphasized that his work would focus on protecting the interests of farmers. He added that since the main priorities of the current government is to hold elections, ensure good governance, and control irregularities, his ministry’s efforts would be aligned accordingly.
