New US envoy Thompson meets Dahal

KATHMANDU, Nov 1: The newly-appointed US Ambassador to Nepal, Dean R Thompson, has held a meeting with chairman of the CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

KATHMANDU, Nov 1: The newly-appointed US Ambassador to Nepal, Dean R Thompson, has held a meeting with chairman of the CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal.



Ambassador Thompson visited Dahal's residence in Khumaltar this morning to meet him. Dahal's secretariat said that the relations between the two countries over the years, Nepali politics, and economic development were discussed during the meeting.

During the meeting, Chairman Dahal said that the support and role played by the US and the American people in the development of Nepal is admirable. He said, "Nepal and America have been friends for years. I believe that this relationship will be stronger during your term.”


Ambassador Thompson said he was happy to come to a beautiful country full of natural and cultural diversity. He assured that their cooperation will continue to achieve the goal of sustainable and inclusive economic development of Nepal. Thompson expressed his belief that the 75-year-old Nepal-US relationship will be further enhanced during his tenure.
