LONDON, Aug 12: Nepathya has carved yet another milestone in the same iconic venue where it set its benchmark 12 years ago. On Saturday evening, the band delivered a spectacular performance before a packed house of 10,000 at the world-renowned Wembley Arena in the UK.
In one of the busiest cities on the planet, the concert transformed into a full-fledged celebration, with the audience savoring every moment from start to finish.
To truly feel the atmosphere of the night, one only needs to watch the video posts of attendee Manjari Dawadi (Angel Manjari on Facebook). Her footage begins outside the massive venue, showing the sprawling premises and the long queues of eager fans.
Inside, the sight of a sea of people heightens her excitement. Just before the show begins, the music video of Sa Karnali plays, paired with breathtaking scenes from Nepal. Overcome with emotion, she cannot hold back her tears. Throughout the night, she sings along with joy, her simple yet heartfelt videos becoming a vivid testament to the deep significance Nepal, Nepali songs and Nepathya hold for young Nepalis living abroad.

As always, the concert began right on the dot. The band opened with its first gift to the audience, Koshiko Pani.
Fourth in the setlist was Aanganai Bhari—a song Amrit Gurung composed long before Nepathya’s formation, during his days in Yangjakot, Kaski. His childhood friend, Pushkal Gurung, witnessed its creation firsthand. On Saturday in London, Pushkal was among the audience. “I never imagined that the song Amrit strummed and composed in our village 35 years ago would one day mesmerize so many people in such a grand setting in London,” said Pushkal, who is gradually losing his eyesight due to health reasons. “History was made at Wembley on Saturday and I feel blessed to have been a witness to it.”
Throughout the evening, Amrit not only sang but also shared stories behind the songs, urged the preservation of the Nepali language and culture, and called on young Nepalis abroad to remain connected to their homeland. “Whenever I speak my mind on social issues, the audience has always responded warmly,” Amrit said. “But in London, the thunderous support from such a massive crowd made my heart feel as tall and strong as Mount Everest.”
Another unforgettable moment came when the band couldn’t resist the audience’s call for “Once more!” Traditionally, Nepathya closes with Rato Ra Chandra Surya, but that night they returned to deliver an encore—Himal Chuchure.
Joining Amrit on stage were Dhurba Lama on drums, Subin Shakya on bass guitar, Niraj Gurung on guitar, Shanti Rayamajhi on Madal and Dinesh Raj Regmi on keyboards.
“The dream of putting Nepathya on the world-famous Wembley stage was fulfilled as a milestone 12 years ago,” said Kiran Krishna Shrestha of Nepalaya, the Band’s management. “This time, they didn’t just surpass that benchmark—they may have made history as the first in Nepali music to gather such a huge crowd in an indoor venue.”
Fans came from far beyond London to attend, including Wilko from the Netherlands, who arrived with his family. A medical physicist mentioned in Nepathya’s recently published biography, Wilko was one of those who offered crucial advice for Amrit’s throat treatment when his voice began to fade. Backstage at Wembley 12 years ago, Amrit had confided to Wilko that his throat was failing him, leaving both friends deeply emotional.
“This time was incredible,” Wilko said after the show. “Seeing Amrit jumping, dancing and singing with the same old energy was pure joy.” He praised Amrit and his team for bringing a piece of Nepal to the doorsteps of Nepalis living abroad.
The Wembley concert was organized by UK-based BSK Entertainment and Parcha Productions. “For the 10,000 who attended, tonight will be unforgettable,” said organizer Deependra Lama. “I’m grateful to everyone who helped rewrite Nepathya’s Wembley history so magnificently.”
After Wembley, Nepathya’s European tour continues with stops in Copenhagen, Denmark, on August 23; Attard, Malta, on August 27; Lisbon, Portugal, on August 31; and concluding in Antwerp, Belgium, on September 3.
European fans can purchase tickets directly through Nepathya’s official website, www.nepathya.com.np, to secure their seats.
