KATHMANDU, July 8: Nepal’s gross foreign exchange reserve reached Rs 2.569 trillion as of mid-June 2025, with an increase of 25.9 percent in the past 11 months.
As per the 11 months data on Current Macroeconomic and Financial Situation of Nepal unveiled by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the country’s net foreign currency reserves grew Rs 528.28 billion. As of mid-June 2024, Nepal’s foreign currency reserves stood at 2.041 trillion.
Hospitals too get permits to borrow in foreign currency

In the US dollar terms, the gross foreign exchange reserves increased 22.2 percent to 18.65 billion in mid-June 2025 from 15.27 billion in mid-July 2024.
The foreign exchange reserve is sufficient to cover the prospective merchandise imports of 17.6 months, and merchandise and services imports of 14.7 months, according to the NRB.
