KATHMANDU, May 29: Nepal's economy is estimated to have reached a size of Rs 6.17 trillion.
Unveiling the Economic Survey 2025/26 on Thursday, Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel said that contributions to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) are estimated at 25.16 percent from the agriculture sector, 12.83 percent from the industrial sector, and 62.01 percent from the services sector.

The survey also states that Nepal’s per capita income has reached USD 1,517.
Meanwhile, the government’s treasury is in deficit due to its failure to meet revenue collection targets. Minister Paudel stated that the federal government’s fiscal deficit stands at Rs 16.19 billion, although he noted a significant improvement compared to the same period in the last fiscal year.
According to him, the fiscal deficit during the same period last year was Rs 70.36 billion. He also mentioned that by the end of Falgun (mid-March) in the current fiscal year, federal expenditure had increased by 4.7 percent, while federal revenue had grown by 12.6 percent.
