KATHMANDU, Sept 12: The Nepali Army (NA) has urged the general public not to believe or spread false, misleading and unverified information circulating on social media and other platforms.
In a statement issued on Friday, the NA emphasized the need for restraint in sharing unconfirmed comments, opinions, and analyses.

The national army is currently playing a supportive role in maintaining peace and security and facilitating dialogue between the Gen Z representatives and the President regarding the formation of an interim government following the 8 September protest.
The army also advised citizens to contact the Directorate of Public Relations and Information or the nearest divisional headquarters in case of any emergencies.
The NA’s clarification comes in response to rumors widely shared on Thursday night, including claims that the military was preparing to usurp all executive power through a coup. Another piece of misinformation that Indian Army vehicles had entered Nepal in large numbers also gained traction on social media, prompting public confusion and concern.
The NA reiterated its commitment to the constitution and called on all individuals to act responsibly during this sensitive period.
