Nepali Army relaxes curfew hours in Kathmandu Valley

The Army has stated that although curfew hours have been eased, activities such as protests, sit-ins, and rallies remain strictly prohibited during the prohibitory and curfew period.

KATHMANDU, Sept 12: The Nepali Army has slightly reduced the hours of the prohibitory order and curfew in the Kathmandu Valley, covering Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Lalitpur. 



According to a notice issued on Thursday night, the public will be allowed limited movement for essential purposes from 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM and from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday.

The Army stated that the prohibitory order will remain in effect from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM on September 12, while the curfew will continue from 7:00 PM until 6:00 AM the following morning.


Essential services, including ambulances, hearse vehicles, fire brigades, health workers, security personnel, media, and vehicles transporting food, gas, fuel, milk, vegetables, water, medicines, and telecommunication equipment, will be allowed to operate during the prohibitory and curfew hours.


Domestic and international air passengers will be permitted to travel to the airport by showing their flight tickets.


Similarly, employees of government offices, the National Human Rights Commission, banks and financial institutions, and public enterprises will be allowed to commute to their workplaces by presenting valid identification cards.
