KATHMANDU, May 29: A special program was organized at the Army Pavillion in Tundikhel, Kathmandu to celebrate 18th Republic Day.
During the ceremony, the Nepali Army personnel performed a flower shower from a helicopter and displayed a banner reading “Republic Day, 2082.”

On May 28, 2008 (Jestha 15, 2065 BS), the first meeting of the Constituent Assembly abolished the 240-year-old institution of monarchy and declared Nepal a federal democratic republic. Since then, the country has been marking Republic Day every year to commemorate this historic political transformation.
