KATHMANDU, Sept 21: The national flag carrier, Nepal Airlines Corporation, is set to launch direct flights between Kathmandu and Guangzhou, China, starting Thursday (September 25). This will be the airline’s first direct service on the Kathmandu–Guangzhou–Kathmandu route.
According to Executive Chairman Yubraj Adhikari, all technical preparations have been completed, and the airline has already obtained approval for the new route.

Nepal Airlines has scheduled three weekly flights. The inaugural flight will take off on September 25, followed by the second on September 28, and subsequent flights on October 16, 19, and 23. From then on, regular flights will operate every Sunday, Tuesday, and Saturday.
The one-way fare has been fixed at Rs 30,000, while a round-trip ticket will cost Rs 50,000. The airline also announced plans to soon start direct flights from Kathmandu to South Korea and Australia.
Currently, China Southern Airlines operates regular flights on the Kathmandu–Guangzhou route, while Himalaya Airlines also serves the sector from Nepal. With a significant Nepali population in Guangzhou, the new service is expected to generate substantial economic benefits for Nepal Airlines.
With this addition, Nepal Airlines will now operate international flights to 11 destinations across nine countries. The airline, which currently owns two narrow-body and two wide-body aircraft, operates its flights to Doha (Qatar), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Dubai (UAE), Hong Kong, Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru (India), Bangkok (Thailand), Dammam (Saudi Arabia), and Narita (Japan).
