NEA white paper released: 84.62 percent of Nepali households have electricity access

KATHMANDU, May 2: Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has released its latest white paper, revealing that 84.62 percent of households in Nepal now have access to electricity, based on the 2021 national census.



NEA Managing Director Hitendra Dev Shakya unveiled the report during a press conference on Friday. The white paper, approved by the NEA Board on April 28, includes an 11-page executive summary and a 75-page full report.

According to Shakya, electricity access has reached 97.5 percent of municipalities and 95 percent of wards across the country. The NEA currently serves 5.56 million customers.


Nepal has a total installed electricity capacity of 3,511 megawatts, of which 661.57 megawatts are owned and operated by the NEA.
