KATHMANDU, May 30: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), which stirred controversy by issuing a white paper claiming a net loss of Rs 5.26 billion, has instead reported a net profit of Rs 10.52 billion to the Ministry of Finance.
According to the review of public institutions released by the Ministry of Finance on Thursday, the NEA’s accumulated profit has reached Rs 46.47 billion.
NEA makes profit of Rs 10.67 billion

Earlier on May 2, the NEA had issued a white paper claiming it was operating at a loss of Rs 5.26 billion and would need to take a Rs 10 billion loan to pay contractors and service providers.
However, the review shows that in the Fiscal Year 2024/25, the NEA earned an operating income of Rs 115.50 billion. During the same period, it reported employee expenses of Rs 5.91 billion.
