KATHMANDU, Sept 15: Ncell has filed a formal complaint at the Kathmandu District Police Office after its headquarters, Ncell ICON in Lainchaur, was vandalised and set on fire during the Gen Z protest on September 9, 2025.

In its complaint, the company stated that criminal groups took advantage of the protests to unleash large-scale destruction, setting property on fire, looting valuable assets, and causing extensive damage to the building.

Ncell has urged the police to arrest those involved, conduct a thorough investigation, prosecute the culprits to the fullest extent of the law, recover stolen property, and compensate the company for the damage caused.

According to the complaint, the attackers arrived in groups disguised as protesters and threatened the security guards on duty. The guards were locked inside a room and warned they would be burned alive if they resisted. The attackers then smashed the front glass panels, forced their way inside, and vandalised the customer service centre and reception on the ground floor. They moved through all ten floors of the building, destroying office property, setting equipment on fire, and looting critical documents, including original certificates, licences, land ownership papers, cash, and company safes.

Ncell reported that valuable office equipment across all ten floors, including computers, televisions, printers, refrigerators, ovens, coffee vending machines, and other items, was destroyed or stolen. Personal lockers assigned to employees were broken into, with laptops, jewellery, and other belongings taken. Televisions and monitors from meeting halls and gym equipment from the second floor were either looted or set on fire.

The attackers also seized keys from the vehicle room, drove expensive company-owned and rental vehicles into the courtyard, and set them ablaze. Some vehicles were dragged outside the premises and completely destroyed by fire. Employees’ personal vehicles parked on the premises were also vandalised and burned, resulting in massive financial and material losses, according to the company.

The company has submitted CCTV footage of the attack along with a detailed inventory of the stolen and damaged assets to assist the police investigation. Ncell stated that the full extent of the losses is still being assessed, and additional details will be provided to the authorities as the investigation progresses.
