KATHMANDU, Aug 23: A Parliamentary Party (PP) meeting of the Nepali Congress is taking place at Lhotse Hall of the Parliament building in New Baneshwar on Tuesday.

The meeting is dwelling on the proposal submitted by the Local Bodies Restructuring Commission (LBRC) to form 565 local municipal bodies.

"LBRC Chairman Balananda Paudel is also participating in the meeting. The NC PP leaders are asking him the rationale behind the proposal to form only 565 local municipal bodies and mounting pressure on the LBRC to increase the number of the local municipal bodies,” NC lawmaker Ramhari Khatiwada told Republica Online.

A two-day gathering of NC district presidents held recently has suggested that the LBRC rectify its proposal saying that it is ‘unscientific and unfeasible.’

The meeting has been called at the initiation of the NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba following the gathering of the NC district presidents.
