JHAPA, Sept 24: Media reports indicate that supporters of Sher Bahadur Deuba, the President of the Nepali Congress (NC), are expressing concerns about a leadership transition due to the current adverse situation. In response, the party's General Secretaries have intensified their campaign to change the leadership.
Party President Deuba, who was seriously injured during the Gen-Z protest, is currently receiving treatment and has not publicly addressed the young leaders' calls for a change in leadership. Meanwhile, the anti-incumbency movement has gained momentum, with active discussions and participation from the General Secretaries duo, Bishwa Prakash Sharma and Gagan Thapa.

Sharma suggested that Deuba should internalize the spirit and message of the Gen-Z protest, which has significantly impacted the country and led to the downfall of the government backed by the Nepali Congress.
During a program held in Dhulabari on Tuesday, Sharma stated that the party must embrace transformation as soon as possible. "Times change, and so must all leaders and bureaucrats. Change is needed not just in Singha Durbar, but at all ward levels and among the general public," he said and warned, "Those who embrace change will lead the party, while those who resist will be shown the door."
The Gen-Z protest emphasizes the need for stringent measures against corruption and the promotion of heightened awareness of democratic values. Incidents of arson, indiscriminate gunfire, and vandalism must be thoroughly investigated, and legal action should be taken accordingly.
Sharma also visited his private residence and the party office, both of which suffered damage during the arson and vandalism connected to the protest.
