KATHMANDU, Aug 4: The National Examination Board (NEB) has announced the results of the Grade XII annual examinations.
The results were released following a Board meeting held on Monday evening. As per the data, 61.17 percent of students under the regular category have passed, while the pass rate for partial examinees stands at 36.49 percent.
A total of 511,525 students appeared in this year’s examinations, of which 396,347 were regular examinees and 114,640 were under the partial category. According to the NEB, 38.83 percent of students in the regular category received a non-graded (NG) status, while only 41,840 students obtained a grade under the partial category.
NEB announces results of grade 12 enhancement exam
NEB Chairman Dr. Mahashram Sharma informed that altogether 284,305 students across both categories achieved the minimum required grade. The Board also cancelled the exams of 11 students from the regular group and 17 from the partial category due to rule violations.
English was the subject with the highest failure rate this year, Dr. Sharma added.
In terms of GPA distribution, 13,502 students scored between 3.61 and 4.00, while 55,896 achieved between 3.21 and 3.60. Similarly, 94,268 students secured a GPA between 2.81 and 3.20, 69,812 between 2.41 and 2.80, and 8,964 between 2.01 and 2.40. Only 23 students scored between 1.61 and 2.00.
This year’s pass rate marks a 9 percent increase compared to the previous year. According to Dr. Sharma, the improvement reflects the hard work of students and a more serious approach from parents toward education.
The NEB has also announced that the grade improvement (supplementary) examinations will be held on September 13 and 14.

Under SMS service, students can also access the results by typing NEB symbol number and then sending the message to 1600 of NT. For IVR users, the results can be seen by dialing 1601 of NT service.
