NAC narrow-body aircraft back in service after engine repairs

According to the NAC, the technical issues with aircraft registered 9N-AKW and 9N-AKX have been resolved. The 9N-AKX aircraft was released on Sunday, while the other aircraft have already resumed flights.

KATHMANDU, Aug 25: Both narrow-body aircraft of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) have returned to service following engine repairs.



According to the NAC, the technical issues with aircraft registered 9N-AKW and 9N-AKX have been resolved. The 9N-AKX aircraft was released on Sunday, while the other aircraft have already resumed flights.

The 9N-AKX had been grounded since 20 Shrawan due to gearbox problems inside its engine. The second narrow-body was also unexpectedly grounded on the night of August 20.


Repairing the engine of the NAC’s narrow-body aircraft took nearly two years. The planes are currently operating on leased engines. NAC had sent one of its own engines for overhaul to Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) on December 1, 2023.
