Motorcyclist dies from injuries after collision with sumo in Udayapur

The victim, identified as 45-year-old Binod Lama of Dhanusha, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Biratnagar.

UDAYAPUR, Aug 24 : A motorcyclist injured in a road accident on the Madan Bhandari Highway a week ago has died while undergoing treatment.



The victim, identified as 45-year-old Binod Lama of Dhanusha, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Biratnagar. Lama was seriously injured when his motorcycle (Province 2-02-003 Pa 3708), en route to Dharan from Dhanusha, was hit by a Sumo (Ko 1 Cha 8799) coming from Itahari toward Gaighat on August 15 near the Dwarakhola bridge in Chaudandigadhi Municipality-6.

Both Lama and pillion rider Sifal Sada, also 45 and from Dhanushadham Municipality-8, sustained injuries in the crash. They were initially treated at Belatar Municipal Hospital before being referred to Biratnagar. While Lama died during treatment, Sada’s condition is reported to be improving, according to the District Police Office, Udayapur.


The Sumo driver, 36-year-old Prem Karki of Triyuga Municipality-6, has been taken into custody at Beltar Area Police Office for further investigation.
