KATHMANDU, Aug 18: Nepal’s monsoon may have lost some of its punch, with the trough sitting slightly south of its usual position. But moisture-packed winds from the Bay of Bengal are still fueling clouds and rain across the country, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD).
Heavy rainfall likely in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini

This afternoon, skies will stay mostly cloudy nationwide. Moderate rain is likely in parts of Koshi, Bagmati, Madhesh and Lumbini provinces, affecting both the Terai and hilly regions. Other hilly belts may also see showers, while heavier downpours could drench one or two places in Lumbini’s Terai and Bagmati’s hills, MFD reported.
By nightfall, Koshi and Madhesh provinces will remain generally cloudy, while other regions will see partly cloudy skies. Moderate rain is expected in some hilly and Terai pockets of Koshi and Madhesh, with isolated showers elsewhere. One or two areas in Koshi’s Terai, and the hilly belts of Bagmati and Gandaki, could face heavy rainfall, according to the MFD.
