KATHMANDU, Sept 23: The government will use only domestically manufactured furniture for reconstruction work related to government offices.
Assuming his office on Monday, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Anil Kumar Sinha has announced the decision to use only local furniture products during the reconstruction process. He added that he would emphasize employing the families of martyrs and the injured during the Gen Z protests.

During the Gen-Z movement, 230 government buildings under the federal government were damaged. Including those under provincial and local governments, Baral estimates that more than 500 buildings nationwide suffered damage. Ministries have begun collecting details of vehicles burned and physical structures damaged during the Gen Z movement.
The main building of Singha Durbar, the northern section of the Supreme Court, the Ministry of Health building, and the Kathmandu District Court building are all in a condition that makes them unsafe for use. The structures of the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction, the main office of the Department of Roads and the Federal Secretariat Construction and Management Office, among others, sustained severe damage.
