KATHMANDU, June 6: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has claimed that the government has not held any resentment against former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal. Speaking to journalists at Biratnagar Airport on Friday, Minister Gurung asserted that the government does not seek revenge.
Gurung clarified that constitutional commissions are autonomous, and therefore, their work is also independent. He stated that the government will not interfere in the commissions’ work.
“These commissions are autonomous; they do not act based on government decisions or directives,” Gurung said, “It is wrong to claim that the government took action or sought revenge through the commissions' work.”

Gurung further clarified that neither the government nor the council of ministers has made any decisions to investigate or file cases against anyone.
He stated that Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak does not need to resign over the visit visa case. Since an investigation has begun based on suspicions of employee involvement in irregularities related to visit visas, Gurung argued that the Home Minister is not required to step down.
He accused the opposition of playing revenge politics by demanding the minister’s resignation as soon as the investigation started.
Gurung clarified that even if the situation changes and the Home Minister eventually needs to resign, there is no need for him to do so at this moment. He also claimed that the Education and Civil Service bills will be passed during the current parliamentary session.
