KATHMANDU, Sept 22: After assuming responsibility as Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport, and Urban Development, Kulman Ghising has headed straight to the field to address one of the most complex challenges in his portfolio.
He conducted an on-site inspection of the Barhabise–Tatopani Kodari section of the Arniko Highway, a key trade route with China, which has been blocked by landslides for the past two months.

Minister Ghising assessed the landslide-affected “eco zone” and gathered updates on the ongoing efforts to reopen the road. Due to the blockage, over a thousand containers carrying goods imported from China for major festivals such as Dashain, Tihar, and Chhath are stranded.
At the site, Ghising instructed the Department of Roads staff and security personnel to utilize all available resources and work at “war-level” intensity to restore highway operations as quickly as possible.
