KATHMANDU, July 4: Arun Kumar Chaudhary, the Minister of State for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation in Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli-led government, is set to resign.
Chaudhary, who represents the Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP), will submit his resignation after PM Oli returns from his foreign trip, said party chairperson Ranjita Shrestha Chaudhary. “The minister will resign, and we will stay in the opposition in Parliament. The PM is currently abroad; the resignation will be submitted once he returns,” she said.
EC declines to recognize Resham Chaudhary as NUP chairman

The NUP decided to withdraw from the federal government after its minister in the Sudurpaschim government, Rameshwar Chaudhary—who was serving as Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forests, and Environment—was dismissed by Chief Minister Kamal Shah.
“We will now stay in the opposition at both the federal and provincial levels. We have also discussed this with our patron,” said Ranjita Shrestha. “We will officially take the opposition bench starting from the Parliament meeting on July 7.”
Party patron Resham Chaudhary also confirmed the move to the opposition in a Facebook post. “Now we will also sit in the opposition,” he wrote.
