Meta seeks registration details in Nepal after government’s ban decision

According to a ministry official, Meta representatives emailed the minister’s expert advisor, Shalikram Parajuli, on Thursday afternoon requesting the list. The ministry responded within five minutes, sending information on the required documents for registration.

KATHMANDU, Sept 4: Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has asked Nepal’s Ministry of Communication and Information Technology for details of documents required to register as a company in Nepal.



According to a ministry official, Meta representatives emailed the minister’s expert advisor, Shalikram Parajuli, on Thursday afternoon requesting the list. The ministry responded within five minutes, sending information on the required documents for registration.

The government has decided to gradually restrict operations of social media platforms that have not registered in Nepal. The Nepal Telecommunications Authority has already instructed internet service providers to block 26 such platforms.
