Man struck by lightning rescued after 8 hours in Jumla

Rawat was injured on Monday afternoon while tending to a flock of sheep in Thulo Haka Patan, located in Guthichaur Rural Municipality-5.

JUMLA, July 8: Rescue teams have saved Dhan Bahadur Rawat, a resident of Bhadgaun in Sinja Rural Municipality-6, eight hours after he was struck by lightning in Jumla.



Rawat was injured on Monday afternoon while tending to a flock of sheep in Thulo Haka Patan, located in Guthichaur Rural Municipality-5.

A joint rescue team of Armed Police Force and Nepal Police left Khalanga, the district headquarters, at 8 PM and reached the site around 5 AM on Tuesday morning, according to DSP Rabin Babu Regmi of Jumla District Police Office.


He said Rawat was being carried back on a stretcher, but further details were unavailable due to poor phone connectivity in the area.


The lightning strike reportedly occurred at around 4:30 PM on Monday, killing over 200 sheep in the pastureland.
