Man missing after Tuin cable snaps over Mahakali river in Darchula

According to police, Narayan Budhathoki, 28, of Byas Rural Municipality-2, Dumling, fell into the river at around 12 PM while attempting to cross into India via a Tuin.

DARCHULA, July 15: A man went missing after falling into the Mahakali River when a Tuin (cable crossing) snapped in Darchula district on Monday.



According to police, Narayan Budhathoki, 28, of Byas Rural Municipality-2, Dumling, fell into the river at around 12 PM while attempting to cross into India via a Tuin.

Inspector Chhatra Bahadur Rawat of the District Police Office said Budhathoki was accompanied by two others- Jitu Bista, 26, and Jayadu Budhathoki, 45. Jitu had safely crossed before the cable broke mid-way during Narayan's turn.


Jayadu, who was waiting his turn, could not board the Tuin after the incident. A joint search operation involving police and local residents is underway to locate the missing individual.
