Man arrested for defrauding Rs 7.5 million with false job promise in the US

The accused has been identified as 30-year-old Ranjan Pandey, a resident of Chandragiri-7, Kathmandu, originally from Vyas-12, Tanahun, according to the Kathmandu District Police Range.

KATHMANDU, July 1: A man has been arrested for allegedly defrauding Rs 7.55 million by falsely promising to send someone to the United States for a high-paying job.



The accused has been identified as 30-year-old Ranjan Pandey, a resident of Chandragiri-7, Kathmandu, originally from Vyas-12, Tanahun, according to the Kathmandu District Police Range.

Pandey was arrested on Sunday after a complaint was lodged stating that he had taken money from a person in exchange for a job offer in the US and then went out of contact.


A team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku, apprehended him from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-4.


He is currently in police custody at the Kathmandu District Police Range for further investigation and legal proceedings.
