Madhesh Province: Over Rs 220 million collected in revenue from 264,310 vehicles

RAUTAHAT, JULY 21: In Madhesh Province, there was an increase in the number of actions taken against vehicles violating traffic rules in the last fiscal year. There has also been an increase in revenue collection due to the actions taken against vehicles.



In the financial year 2078/79, the traffic police punished 2,64,310 vehicles in the course of controlling and taking action against traffic rule violations. According to Nepal Police Highway Safety and Traffic Management Office, Pathlaiya, Rs 224,440,500 was collected in revenue from traffic operations in the last financial year.

DSP Lakshmi Bhandari, spokesperson and information officer for the office, said that compared to the previous fiscal year, there was an increase in the number of actions taken against vehicles and the revenue collection in the last year. In the financial year 2077/78, the office collected Rs 191,637,000 in revenue through actions taken against 259,188 vehicles.


DSP Bhandari said that the revenue collection in the last fiscal year increased by 17.2 percent, compared to the previous fiscal year. The traffic police has also been conducting various awareness programs in the province.
