KATHMANDU, Aug 31: Lumbini Provincial Assembly member Sarita Pun passed away on Saturday while undergoing treatment at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Manmohan Cardiothoracic Center in Maharajgunj.
According to CPN-UML Politburo member and Rukum East in-charge Khemman Khadka, Pun, a resident of Taksera in Rukum East, had been taken to Kathmandu a few days ago after developing health complications.

Doctors at the hospital performed two major surgeries: she gave birth to a daughter through one operation, and underwent another surgery to implant an artificial heart valve. However, she passed away during the course of treatment, Khadka confirmed.
Pun was elected to the Lumbini Provincial Assembly under the proportional representation system from the CPN-UML.
